WHY WE RIDE: REVALIDATION BIKES FOR CHILDREN
Every year children need to recover in the children's rehabilitation of the UZ Gent due to several unfortunate facts of life. Many of these children would like - just like other children their age - to go running, play, learn, function... like they did before their accident or disease.
The revalidation center treats children between 0 and 16 years old, who are limited in their daily mobility due to acute locomotives and neurological problems.
One of the pillars of the rehabilitation center is to learn the children how to regain a certain level of independence by initiating adapted sports activities. It makes the process of revalidation more bearable for the children. Each activity provides a new opportunity to find short new individual goals and regained confidence. This is often a fresh start to reconnect with their previous lives at home.
In many cases, G-sports coaches are asked to provide some extra support.
One of these sports projects is a cycling project.
The center focusses in this project with children between 11 and 16 years old, with different kinds of pathologies and could ride their bikes before their accident or disease.
The goal of this project is to raise funds to pay for the maintenance and purchase of those very specific bicycles. Because of the bespoke nature of each bike, a bit of extra support is always welcome. By helping out, you'll give the children a step up towards overcoming their difficulties and to move forward in life.

Due to the bespoke nature of each bike, the upkeep can become a heavy financial load to bear. A small donation will help the children to get this important tool in overcoming their difficulties and to start to move forward in life.
